Spells (Applied Magic)
Light is a foundation for different spells. There are two kinds of Spells - Functional and Elemental.
Functional spells serve specific purposes. For instance, to create a Searching Spell, a mage first forms an energy ball in their palm, applies it to a personal belonging of the person they are seeking, and then whispers the spell. The energy turns a distinctive color – turquoise-blue for Searching Spells – and the object begins to move toward its owner.
If someone wishes not to be found, they can cast protective spells by creating an energy dome and whispering a Protective Spell, preventing the Searching Spell from reaching them.
Elemental spells replicate the basic manifestations of Elemental Magic. For example, all firefighters know how to cast Watering or Freezing spells to extinguish fires. Fireballs may be cast for self-defense, but using Fireballs to attack someone is considered a serious crime.
That’s why, when the criminal is caught, the guardians use blocking cuffs to prevent destructive spells from being used against them.
The craft of making spells is called ‘Applied Magic.’
Spells in the stories
Spells are widely used in all the stories of the Two Worlds Series. To create a spell, the mage must master the art of applied magic, which might be tricky...
